Local Government Minister Rodney Hide says an in depth review into dog control laws will take into account the latest mauling of a child.
The five-year-old girl is recovering in Waikato Hospital after undergoing 10 hours of surgery for the wounds she received when she was savaged by two pit bull crosses near Whakatane on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES — A German shepherd hoisted to safety from the storm-swollen Los Angeles river Friday is fine, authorities said, but the firefighter who splashed down in the daring helicopter rescue was hospitalized after being bitten by the dog.

A firefighter and his Search Dog located three girls trapped alive since Tuesday in the rubble of Haiti's devastating earthquake.
