Do not train your dog seriously for more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time. You want the training to be something they look forward to. You can play with the puppy or dog and reward it for the training session; just don't make it so long they lose interest or stop enjoying it.

Never discipline your dog for coming to you even if you have to call him 20 times. It makes you angry but if you punish your dog for taking too many calls to come to you, you are giving it a mixed message. You will end up with a dog who hesitates when you call it because it does not know what to expect.

Do not potty train your puppy on newspaper. Instead, spend the extra time to watch him, taking him outside 15 minutes after he eats. Give him a command for doing his business outdoors and praise him. Any woman can tell you that her first birth is very frightening and if she goes through the birth process more than once, she’ll tell you each time is different. Doctors and other people can talk to the human; the dog is on its own.
