Description: The most common indication of a vaginal prolapse is the protrusion of a mass from the vagina of the dog. Excessive production of the hormone while in heat can cause swelling of the tissues of the vagina and eventually protrusion. A dog with a prolapsed vagina is often observed to lick the area and needs to strain in order to urinate. Pain may also be evident.
