Description: The abnormal formation of calcium, oxalate, urate, or struvite crystals within the urinary system. Dogs with urinary stones experience pain during urination and blood can be commonly found in its urine. When these stones block the urinary tract, it can mean a life-threatening situation to the animal. Surgery may not be necessary if flushing coupled with medication and a special diet can eliminate the stones from the body. There are serious cases though that needs surgical intervention. Diet exerts a major influence in the formation of stones within the urinary tract.
