Description: A fatal condition causing inflammation of the brain tissues and usually occurs in smaller breeds of dogs. This hereditary problem often results in the manifestations of nervous signs including muscular incoordination and seizures. Aside from a thorough physical examination, an MRI and spinal tap may be indicated to arrive at a correct diagnosis. Supportive medications can be given to alleviate symptoms however this is a fatal condition and dogs diagnosed with the disease often have poor prognosis.
