Since most of the ingested food remains in the esophagus, a dog with Megaesophagus is often observed to regurgitate food, has bad breath, anorexia, and prone to aspiration pneumonia. There is no cure for Megaesophagus thus a dog with the condition is only given supportive treatment including feeding in a vertical position several times a day and medications to alleviate the symptoms. Breeds Commonly Affected: Irish Red and White Setter, Irish Setter, Irish Wolfhound ![]() ![]() |
