Dog Health ConcernsLyme DiseaseDescription: Lyme Disease is a tick-borne disease that causes polyarthritis or inflammation of the joints. The limb which was bitten by the infected tick is the first one to show lameness. Although almost 95% of infected dogs don't show signs of the disease, manifestations may include depression and enlargement of the lymph nodes. Diagnosis involves the Canine SNAP 3Dx or C6 SNAP test and an ELISA test to demonstrate antibody against Lyme Disease. Positive cases are responsive to doxycycline.
