Description: Compression of the nerves in the lumbo-sacral junction located in the lower portion of the spine. The compressed nerves cause instability of the spine leading to abnormalities in mobility and the occurrence of an inflammatory condition within the spine. The compressing effect may be caused by tumors, trauma, the narrowing of the spinal canal, or the presence of infections in the joints of the intervertebral disks. Diagnosis is made based on x-ray results and an epidurogram. The line of treatment is aimed at reducing the inflammation by giving anti-inflammatory medications. Adequate rest and loss of excess weight should be done to reduce the load on the spine.
