![]() ![]() Dog Health Concerns![]() ![]() Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS)Description: Also called "dry eye", it is due to the poor production of tears as a result of injury to the tear gland, infections, or adverse reaction to certain sulfonamide eye medications. Dogs with KCS have ocular discharges which are often thick and yellowish. The eye remains dry. If left untreated, chronic KCS infections may lead to blindness. Your veterinarian will prescribe medicated eye drops to treat milder cases however surgery may be indicated to transplant the tear duct.
