Description: Canine Hip Dysplasia occurs when the ball of the femur does not fit in snugly in the socket of the hip joints. Dogs with the condition manifest walking difficulties. Painful arthritis is a common complication. Pain and limping is very obvious while exercising or after exercise. Correct diagnosis is achieved with a complete physical examination of the hips and x-ray examination of the hip joints. Surgery is often indicated to correct Hip Dysplasia. In severe cases, your veterinarian may recommend total hip replacement or reconstruction surgery for the affected joint.
