Description: Epilepsy is characterized by recurring seizures that occur as a result of abnormalities in the conduction of the impulses from the neurons to the cerebrum in the brain. Seizures are commonly linked with Diabetes mellitus, liver and kidney disorders, congenital anomalies, anemia, toxins, hyperthermia, tumors, and certain drugs or medications. A diagnosis is made based on a detailed medical history coupled with x-rays and specific neurological exams. Unless the underlying cause is made known, seizures can only be prevented or decreased but never treated.
