Description: A blood disorder which is caused by a recessive gene. It is characterized by recurring periods of very low levels of neutrophils (white blood cells). Neutrophils are very important in protecting the body against infections by killing bacteria and other pathogens. A dog with Cyclic Neutropenia is often observed to suffer from infections. Aside from recurrent infections, your dog may also suffer from ulcers in the mouth and fever. There is no specific treatment for the disease. However, symptomatic treatment can add more years to your dog’s life.
