It is quite difficult to pinpoint the cause of Colonic Disease. However, defects in the immune system, heredity, and diet can be possible causes. The most common clinical signs include diarrhea and vomiting. A dog suffering from Colonic Disease may also exhibit depression, drastic loss in weight, inappetence, blood or mucus in the stool, and an increased in the number of attempts in defecation accompanied by only very small amounts of stool. There has been no successful line of treatment for this disease. Medications to control the clinical symptoms are often prescribed accompanied by dietary changes.
